PESA Mahotsav Kicks Off in Visakhapatnam, Showcasing Tribal Heritage

The two-day PESA Mahotsav, organised by the Union Ministry of Panchayat Raj and Andhra Pradesh State Panchayat Raj Department, began with a grand inauguration at the Visakhapatnam Port Stadium on Tuesday. Union Ministry Joint Secretary Mukta Shekhar, AP Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Commissioner Krishna Teja, and archer Jyothi Surekha inaugurated the event, which features 68 stalls showcasing tribal products and traditional dishes from 10 states.

The Mahotsav featured Khelo India competitions, with 18 teams from 10 states participating. Madhya Pradesh emerged as the winner in the men’s category, while Jharkhand clinched the top spot in the women’s category. Archery competitions drew 20 players, with Krishna Pingua of Jharkhand winning gold in the men’s individual category and Khushi Nanoma of Rajasthan winning gold in the women’s individual category.

The event will conclude on Wednesday with a valedictory function at the Port Kalavani Auditorium, where prizes will be presented to winners.
