A senior chemist at Deccan Remedies Private Limited died Monday morning after a suspected gas leak at the company’s reactor facility in Parwada Pharma City.
The victim, M. Poli Naidu (41), collapsed during lunch on Sunday afternoon after completing his shift. He was rushed to Gajuwaka Hospital, where he remained under treatment before passing away at 6 a.m. Monday.
Parwada DCP Vishnu Swaroop said Naidu suddenly lost consciousness in the company canteen. “He was immediately shifted to hospital, but this morning he died while receiving treatment. We are awaiting the post-mortem report for the exact cause of death. A case has been registered under Section 174 CrPC,” he said.
Following the incident, CITU Pharmacy Staff and Workers Union president Gani Shetty Satyanarayana demanded strict action against the management. He called for Rs 1 crore compensation to the family and criminal charges against company officials, alleging negligence in safety standards.
Speaking to the media after inspecting the reactor area, Satyanarayana said: “A life was lost due to the management’s negligence in not following safety standards.”
