Power Restoration in Cyclone-Hit Areas Moving Swiftly: APEPDCL CMD

Power restoration in areas battered by Cyclone Montha is moving at full speed, said APEPDCL CMD Prithvi Tej Imadi. He briefed Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu during his visit to Konaseema district on Wednesday.

Mr. Imadi said restoration work began immediately after the cyclone, thanks to advance preparation. Generators, cables, poles, and transformers were pre-positioned at all section offices, and trained personnel were ready to respond.

The CMD is personally visiting affected areas and overseeing the progress. He inspected the Uppalaguptam, Ainavalu, and Amalapuram substations under the Amalapuram division. Later, he joined a review meeting led by Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu at the Konaseema District Collectorate to assess the restoration work.

According to Mr. Imadi, Cyclone Montha caused losses worth ₹10.47 crore across 11 APEPDCL circles. Over 7,900 staff members are working in 523 teams to restore power in the worst-affected areas — Konaseema, Kakinada, and West Godavari. Together, these districts include 13 towns, 67 mandals, and more than 13 lakh service connections.

Infrastructure damage was extensive, including 255 substations, 192 33KV feeders, and over 1,200 11KV feeders. So far, 703 LT poles and 16,822 agricultural connections have been restored.

“All teams are working round the clock to restore power for households by tonight and for agricultural and aqua consumers by tomorrow,” Mr. Imadi said.

He urged residents to stay safe and report any damaged wires, fallen poles, or transformers. Consumers can call the toll-free helpline or reach the control rooms for assistance:
