President Murmu to Review International Fleet in Vizag
President Droupadi Murmu will arrive in the city on Tuesday evening, February 17, for a two-day visit to participate in the third International Fleet Review (IFR), a major maritime event showcasing India’s naval capabilities and international cooperation.
The President is scheduled to land at the Naval Air Station INS Dega at 4.40 pm. She will be received by Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, and senior Indian Navy officials.
Following her arrival, the President will proceed to the Naval Base, where a ceremonial banquet will be hosted in her honour. Security has been tightened across key locations in the city, with multi-layered arrangements made by the Navy and local authorities. Traffic restrictions are expected along select routes during the President’s movement.
On February 18, in her capacity as Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, the President will review the fleet at the Anchorage Area off Visakhapatnam. The ceremony will begin with a Guard of Honour before she embarks on the Presidential Yacht.
The review will include a 21-gun salute, followed by a steam past of naval assets, including frontline warships and submarines. Vessels of the Indian Coast Guard and ships from the Merchant Marine will also participate. A flypast by naval aircraft is scheduled.
The International Fleet Review is expected to draw around 70 ships from nearly 50 countries, underscoring India’s growing maritime partnerships and the strategic importance of the eastern seaboard. The event will also feature professional exchanges among participating navies.
The President is scheduled to return to Delhi later in the afternoon on February 18.
