Railways Offers 3% Discount on Unreserved Tickets via RailOne App

The Indian Railways has introduced a 3 per cent discount on unreserved tickets booked through the RailOne app when passengers pay through digital modes.

Passengers can avail the offer until July 14, 2026. The discount does not apply to tickets booked through the R-wallet on the app. However, R-wallet users will continue to receive the existing 3 per cent bonus and cashback.

Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra said the RailOne app combines reserved and unreserved ticketing on one platform. He said the move will make ticket booking easier for passengers.

“The RailOne app brings key railway services together. Passengers can book both reserved and unreserved tickets without difficulty. The initiative also promotes cashless transactions across the railway network,” Bohra said.

He urged passengers to download the app for smoother travel and to take advantage of the discount.

Regular commuters welcomed the move. They said the offer could encourage more passengers to shift to digital ticket booking.

S. Ramesh, who travels daily between Visakhapatnam and Anakapalle, said the app saves time. “Passengers no longer need to stand in long queues at ticket counters. Even a small discount is helpful,” he said.

Another commuter, P. Lakshmi, said mobile ticketing has made travel easier for frequent passengers. “Earlier, we had to rush to the counter to buy tickets. Now we can book them in seconds on our phones,” she said.

Travel analysts said the initiative supports the railways’ push for digital payments. They also noted that online booking can reduce crowding at station ticket counters and improve passenger convenience.
