ReNew Energy to Pump Rs 60,000 Crore into AP Green Energy
ReNew Energy Global Plc, a leading clean energy company, will invest Rs 60,000 crore (about $6.7 billion) in Andhra Pradesh to build multiple green energy projects. This raises the company’s total new investment in the state to Rs 82,000 crore ($9.3 billion).
The announcement came after the signing of four MoUs with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board in the presence of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and IT & HRD Minister Nara Lokesh on Thursday. The projects include a 6 GW PV ingot-wafer plant, a 2 GW pumped hydro project, a 300 KTPA green ammonia facility, and 5 GW of hybrid projects combining wind–solar and solar–BESS initiatives.
Earlier, in May 2025, ReNew had committed Rs 22,000 crore ($2.5 billion) for one of India’s largest hybrid renewable energy projects in Anantapur district, with 2.8 GW capacity and a 2 GWh battery storage system. The company already operates 717 MW of wind and 60 MW of solar capacity across the state.
Chief Minister Naidu said, “Andhra Pradesh aims to be a national leader in renewable energy. ReNew’s investments show global confidence in our policies, infrastructure, and talent. This partnership will speed up clean energy growth, create high-quality jobs, and support sustainable development.”
ReNew CEO Sumant Sinha added, “This expansion brings a complete clean energy value chain to Andhra Pradesh, from wafer production to large-scale projects and storage. It will strengthen domestic supply chains, create skilled jobs, and support India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.”
The new projects are expected to generate over 10,000 jobs and help Andhra Pradesh reach its renewable energy goals of 78.5 GW solar, 35 GW wind, and 25 GWh battery storage.
