Rooftop solar, housing options draw crowds at CREDAI Property Expo
Rooftop solar power is a practical and affordable solution to cut electricity bills and improve household energy security, said Prithvi Tej Immadi, Chairman and Managing Director of APEPDCL.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest on the second day of the 11th CREDAI Property Expo, Mr. Immadi spoke about the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, under which households can meet their power needs for nearly two decades with a one-time investment. He said the scheme also enables consumers to feed surplus power into the grid, offering an additional source of income. The initiative, he added, encourages wider adoption of rooftop solar through direct subsidies, up to 300 units of free power every month, and financial assistance of up to Rs 78,000 through direct bank transfers.
Highlighting the growing uptake of rooftop solar systems, Mr. Immadi said around 31,000 households across 11 districts under APEPDCL have installed solar units with a combined capacity of nearly 100 MW. Visakhapatnam accounts for about 4,500 of these installations, indicating rising awareness among city residents.
The second day of the 11th CREDAI Property Expo saw heavy footfall, with homebuyers and investors showing keen interest in a wide range of residential and commercial projects. Organisers said the response remained strong from both end users and investors, as visitors compared projects and interacted directly with developers, bankers, and other real estate professionals.
A panel discussion involving bankers, developers, suppliers, and homebuyers focused on important aspects such as home loan options, eligibility criteria, repayment planning, and construction quality. Banks, including the State Bank of India, highlighted competitive interest rates, faster loan approvals, and special offers available during the expo. Developers and suppliers presented approved projects and quality-driven solutions in the city’s emerging growth corridors.
