Sai Run and Ride flagged off on RK Beach
Police Commissioner Shankha Brata Bagchi and Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations (SSSSO) State president R. Lakshmana Rao flagged off the “Sri Sathya Sai Run and Ride” at the Kalimata temple on RK Beach on Sunday.
The event marked the birth centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Speaking on the occasion, the Police Commissioner said the programme carried a strong message of unity and harmony for the city. He praised the participants for their energy. He also urged them to follow the ideals of love and compassion taught by Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
Meanwhile, Dr Bagchi and Mr Lakshmana Rao carried the Sri Sathya Sai Universal Torch of Peace along Beach Road. The Sri Sathya Sai Global Council leads this global initiative. The torch will travel across 140 countries, spreading the message of unity, purity, and divinity. President Droupadi Murmu launched it earlier at Puttaparthi on November 22, 2025.
Mr Lakshmana Rao said the run aimed to promote selfless service and service to humanity. In addition, he highlighted the importance of physical fitness. Students of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar presented an instrumental band performance. They played “Saare Jahan Se Accha” and “Chak De India”, drawing applause.
Earlier, Mr Lakshmana Rao, PRSN Naidu, District President of SSSSO, and State coordinators lit the traditional lamp. Senior SSSSO singers then rendered multi-faith prayers for peace and harmony. After that, fitness coach and Zumba instructor Ms Padmini Raju led a warm-up session.
Organisers gave registered participants T-shirts, refreshments, and medals. Former Ichchapuram MLA Sairaju attended the event. Srikakulam Zilla Parishad Chairperson Vijaya was also present. Besides them, State and district office-bearers, Sevadal volunteers, and the principal and staff of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar took part.
