Sankar Foundation Hits Record 35,171 Surgeries, Expands Eye Care Outreach

Sankar Foundation has reported its highest-ever performance in the year 2025–26, performing 35,171 eye surgeries and screening over 2.02 lakh outpatients. Since its establishment in 1997, the foundation has now completed a total of 5,10,246 surgeries, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing mission to eliminate avoidable blindness across the region.

The foundation’s outreach initiatives remained central to its operations over the past year. A total of 601 free eye screening camps were organized across rural and underserved areas, benefiting 43,930 patients who otherwise had limited access to quality eye care.

These efforts were made possible through the support of corporate partners, public sector undertakings, NGOs, and CSR funding, highlighting the community’s trust and active participation in the foundation’s mission.

A large portion of surgeries—19,484—were performed under the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva program, which provides free medical services to economically disadvantaged patients.

Additionally, 659 surgeries were conducted under the Employee Health Scheme. To further strengthen specialized care, the foundation inaugurated a dedicated retina block at its facility, offering advanced treatment for retinal disorders, especially for patients covered under public health programs.

Chairman M. Ramdas and Managing Trustee A. Krishna Kumar lauded the efforts of the doctors, paramedical staff, and support teams, acknowledging their tireless dedication and professionalism in achieving these results.

All branches of the foundation, including those in Srikakulam, Maddilapalem, Gajuwaka, and Madhurawada, reported consistently strong performance throughout the year.

K Bangar Raju, Dy General Manager (PR, Liaison & Corporate Relations), emphasized that the foundation’s growth is underpinned by sustained trust from corporate partners and the support of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, district administrations, and healthcare authorities. He also noted that ongoing collaborations and CSR initiatives continue to play a critical role in expanding the foundation’s reach.

Looking ahead, Sankar Foundation plans to further expand its outreach programs, enhance facilities, and continue delivering high-quality eye care services to more communities.

With a strong focus on eliminating avoidable blindness, the foundation remains committed to strengthening healthcare access across rural and underserved areas, ensuring that advanced eye care reaches those who need it the most.

The foundation plans to expand its outreach further, strengthening services across the region and continuing its fight against avoidable blindness.
