Skill development vital for employability, says MP Sribharat

Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat called for greater focus on skill development to boost employment at the 31st Biennial Andhra Pradesh State-Level Conference of the Student Nurses’ Association of India (SNAI) on Wednesday. The two-day event was organised by the Andhra Pradesh Regional Branch of the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) and drew students, professionals, and experts from across the State.

Under the theme “Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow: The Journey of a Nursing Student,” the conference aimed to combine practical skills with academic knowledge. Mr. Sribharat said education must go beyond degrees and prepare students to meet the rising demand for nurses in India and abroad. He described nursing as a vital pillar of healthcare and urged students to face challenges with determination. He also released a special edition of the conference journal.

S.S.C. Chakrarao, Chairman of the Indian Resuscitation Federation Council, highlighted nurses’ work in remote and tribal areas and their role in the Universal Immunisation Programme. He stressed the importance of training in critical care and CPR.

TNAI Vice-President (South Region) B. Valli detailed career opportunities and launched a monthly scientific journal. TNAI AP Chapter President C.R. Shamshir Begum encouraged students to sharpen their skills, while AP Branch Secretary Acharya K. Susheela said the conference promoted leadership. Deputy Director S. Jyoti advised combining higher studies with online courses. TNAI AP SNA Advisor M. Satya Valli outlined the association’s student programs.

The inaugural session featured cultural performances. On Thursday, competitions in rangoli, paper presentations, sports, and other events concluded with a prize ceremony. Press members and TNAI executives actively participated throughout.
