Srushti Fertility Centre Case Resurfaces: SIT Probe Widens in Visakhapatnam IVF Scandal

The Srushti Fertility Centre case, which shook Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with allegations of child trafficking and IVF centre irregularities, has resurfaced. Investigators are now widening their focus to fertility operations in Visakhapatnam.

A few months ago, Gopalapuram police in Hyderabad arrested middlemen along with three doctors from King George Hospital (KGH). Preliminary investigations revealed that parts of the operation were conducted at a hospital near Siripuram Junction in Visakhapatnam.

Police said the company owner, doctors, and intermediaries maintained extensive networks across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and other states. To speed up the investigation, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed. The SIT is reviewing IVF and fertility centres in Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam and has requested records from the District Health Officer (DHO). Officials are reportedly reluctant to share information, fearing repercussions.

Earlier, Telangana officials were accused of withholding information, raising suspicions of manipulation. In Visakhapatnam, district medical authorities are alleged to have accepted payments from fertility centres while neglecting inspections.

The SIT is expected to visit Visakhapatnam soon. Investigators plan to inspect the Siripuram hospital and other IVF centres. Police have already arrested doctors from KGH’s anaesthesia, gynaecology, and paediatrics departments, and further questioning of staff and intermediaries is expected.

Several key doctors are reportedly evading scrutiny, while hospital management is accused of using influence to stall arrests. Some KGH doctors have provided evidence claiming senior officials engaged in private practice during duty hours, neglecting government responsibilities.

Officials said the SIT is proceeding cautiously, leaving no angle unchecked. If the investigation continues without interference, major revelations and action against hospitals are expected. Public attention remains on Visakhapatnam’s IVF centres and the unfolding outcome of the Srushti Fertility Centre case.
