Top Officials Turn Approvers in Rs 3,500 Crore AP Liquor Scam
Amid a major twist in the Rs 3,500 crore liquor scam that rocked Andhra Pradesh during the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government, two senior officials, D Vasudeva Reddy and D Satyaprasad, have reportedly turned approvers, sources said on Saturday.
The duo, who played key roles in implementing the controversial liquor policy, informed the State High Court about their decision, raising expectations of a breakthrough in the ongoing investigation. Vasudeva Reddy served as Managing Director of AP Beverages Corporation, while Satyaprasad functioned as Special Officer overseeing operations.
Investigators believe both officials possess critical information on policy decisions, operational procedures, and alleged irregularities during the previous government’s tenure. Their cooperation is expected to strengthen the prosecution’s case and put several high-profile accused under pressure.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case has requested additional time to examine evidence and statements, highlighting the complexity of the investigation. Political observers in Tadepalli, the former regime’s stronghold, say the development could have far-reaching repercussions.
