TTD prepares for annual Brahmotsavams from Sept. 24
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is making elaborate arrangements for the annual Salakatla Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara. The festival will take place from September 24 to October 2, Chairman B.R. Naidu said on Tuesday.
After the TTD board meeting at Annamayya Bhavan, Mr. Naidu said the rituals would begin with Ankurarpanam on September 23. The ceremonial Dwajarohanam will follow on September 24 during the Meena Lagnam between 5.43 p.m. and 6.15 p.m.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will present silk vastrams to the deity on behalf of the State government. He will also take part in the Pedda Sesha Vahanam Seva that evening. On September 25, he will inaugurate the PAC-5 Venkatadri Nilayam Complex and release the TTD’s 2026 calendar and diary.
“For the first time, the TTD will use ISRO-supported satellite technology to estimate pilgrim footfalls,” Mr. Naidu said. Floral decorations, LED arches, giant screens at key points, and global HD telecasts of the vahana sevas are also being arranged.
Special darshan for the elderly, differently abled, NRIs, and parents with infants will remain suspended during the festival. Break darshan will be limited to protocol dignitaries.
On Garuda Seva day, September 28, two-wheeler entry into Tirumala will be barred. The trekking routes via Alipiri and Srivari Mettu will remain open 24 hours. Geo-tagging of children will be expanded, and about eight lakh laddus will be stocked each day.
The board also approved new temple projects. These include a seven-acre temple at Kolikoppa in Karnataka and 1,000 temples in Dalit localities across Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Naidu warned that criminal cases would be booked against those spreading malicious propaganda against the institution.
