VCCI hosts 5th Golf Cup

The Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) organised the fifth Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce Golf Cup at the East Point Golf Club (EPGC) on January 24 and 25, drawing 188 participants.

Business leaders, armed forces personnel, civil servants, and residents of the city took part in the tournament, which combined sport with networking.

Highlighting the Chamber’s legacy, VCCI representatives said its founding members were associated with major milestones in the city’s growth. “Our early members were part of Vizag’s formative commercial years, including the arrival of the first ship at Vizag harbour in 1933 and the establishment of Hindustan Shipyard,” a VCCI representative said.

Organisers underlined the role of the venue in promoting the city. “EPGC has put Visakhapatnam on the national golf map and is attracting golfers from across the country, which also supports tourism,” an organiser said.

Kankatala Mallikarjun Rao, past president of VCCI, was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. Honorary President Sri Sudarsan Swamy Mangalagiri and Capt. Sudeep Banerjee of the JM BAXI Group (VCTPL), the main sponsor, was present.

VCCI said such events go beyond sport. “Through initiatives like the Golf Cup, we aim to showcase Visakhapatnam’s infrastructure and encourage more investment in the city,” a Chamber representative said.
