Visakha Music Academy to hold annual festival from Nov 23

The Visakha Music Academy will hold its 56th annual music festival at the Kalabharathi auditorium from November 23 to 29. The Academy has promoted classical music and dance in the city for more than five decades. Its activities include monthly programmes, a youth festival in June, and the annual series in November.

Secretary Chandra Sekhar Veeraghanta said the Academy’s events continue to receive strong support from artistes and music lovers across the region.

The festival opens on November 23 with a vocal recital by Baby Shreeram from Chennai. A violin concert by V. V. Subrahmanyam will follow on November 24.

Kottapalli Vandana of Tirupati will perform on November 25. Veena artiste Ramana Balachandran from Tiruvannamalai is scheduled for November 26. Vocalist K. S. Vishnudev from Ernakulam will take the stage on November 27.

Flautists Heramb and Hemanth from Bengaluru will perform on November 28. The festival will conclude on November 29 with a vocal recital by Abhishek Raghuram of Chennai.

Subrahmanyam will receive the Academy’s Sangeeta Kala Saagara award for 2024 during his concert on November 24. The festival will be inaugurated by Dharmender Varada, managing director of Novus Constructions and chairperson of CREDAI Visakhapatnam, on November 23. Entry is free, and the Academy has invited all music lovers to attend.
