Visakha Utsav 2026 to showcase culture, sports and entertainment
Visakha Utsav 2026 has begun, and the city has stepped into a festive mood. The district administration has lined up cultural shows, sports events, and adventure activities to draw large crowds.
District Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad said the administration made elaborate arrangements for the festival. He added that teams are coordinating closely to ensure smooth conduct. The main stage near Kali Mata Temple hosts programmes daily from 6 pm to 10 pm.
On the opening day, singer Sunitha will perform live. In addition, organisers have scheduled a drone show, fireworks, and a carnival. Meanwhile, local artists will present cultural programmes at Gokul Park from 5 pm to 7.30 pm. The organisers have also set up festival markets, with 70 stalls at RK Beach and 15 stalls at Gokul Park.
Visitors can enjoy food courts and adventure sports. They can also try helicopter rides and paramotoring. Moreover, sports lovers can watch the Coastal Football League, Coastal Volleyball League, and Coastal Kabaddi League from January 27 to 29.
The festival also highlights creative talent. Organisers will conduct Rangoli competitions at Andhra University College of Engineering. Similarly, Sun International School will supervise the culinary competitions. The finals for both events will take place on January 30.
Further, 25 college teams will take part in a treasure hunt on January 29. The organisers will also conduct Mr Vizag, Miss Vizag, and Mrs Vizag contests. Auditions for these events will be held at the VMRDA Children’s Arena.
In addition, VMRDA City Central Park will host a flower show from January 29 to 31. Overall, officials said the Utsav brings together culture, sports, food, and entertainment on one platform.
