Visakhapatnam is no longer just the “coastal urban jewel” of Andhra Pradesh. Once renowned for shipyards and industries, the city is reinventing itself as a prime destination for luxury weddings and high-profile corporate events. Flower arches, ornate mandaps, and camera crews are now common sights along its scenic beaches, as couples and event organizers flock to the city.

The city’s biggest draw remains its beaches—clean, picturesque, and easily accessible. Families from Assam, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal are increasingly booking multi-day ceremonies at beachfront resorts, combining weddings with sightseeing for a full-fledged destination wedding experience.

“Middle and upper-middle-class families from other regions find Vizag ideal for destination weddings,” said K Sravya, Sales Promotion Officer at a leading corporate hotel. “Our property is fully booked until February 2026. South Indian weddings dominate this year, while Marwari ceremonies lead in January and February.”

Beyond nuptials, Visakhapatnam is positioning itself as a hub for the MICE sector—meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions.

“With its strategic location, breath-taking landscapes, and robust hospitality infrastructure, Visakhapatnam is becoming a preferred choice for both domestic and international events,” said M.V. Pavan Kartheek, President of the Andhra Pradesh Hotel and Restaurant Association.

The city already hosts large conferences, trade expos, and international summits, while other Andhra Pradesh locations like Amaravati, Rajahmundry, and Gandikota are promoted as heritage or regal-themed destinations.

Experts highlight Andhra Pradesh’s advantage: affordability, warm hospitality, and a versatile range of venues—from boutique resorts to luxury hotels—appealing to families seeking grandeur and corporations seeking scale.

Government support is fuelling the growth, with investments in airports, highways, and convention centers, alongside streamlined permissions for large gatherings. “Branding Andhra Pradesh at national and international expos has lifted the state’s profile significantly,” said an official from the tourism department.

Hoteliers are ready to meet rising demand. “We are committed to partnering with the government to position Andhra Pradesh as a premier MICE and wedding destination,” Kartheek added. “Hotels are enhancing facilities, introducing new packages, and maintaining world-class service standards to meet evolving expectations.”

For Visakhapatnam, the transformation is striking. From a quiet coastal city, it is now a stage for lavish weddings, corporate conferences, and international events, reshaping its image and securing its spot-on India’s wedding and MICE map.
