Visakhapatnam District to Go Paperless with E-Office System
District Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad has directed all government offices in the district to implement an electronic filing system, effectively phasing out the use of physical files. Under this mandate, all documentation submitted to the Collector’s office must be processed exclusively through the e-filing system.
During a meeting with district officials, Mr. Harendhira Prasad emphasized the urgency of adopting the e-Office system. He reminded officials that, starting January 15, all government services provided to the public will be fully available online. To meet this deadline, the Collector instructed local authorities to ensure a smooth transition and complete all necessary preparations immediately. He further stressed the importance of inter-departmental cooperation to achieve these digital goals.
In a shift toward external digital governance, the government aims to minimize the need for citizens to visit offices in person. Instead, services will be delivered through the ‘Mana Mitra WhatsApp Governance’ platform. Officials were encouraged to ramp up public awareness efforts so that citizens can effectively utilize the Mana Mitra helpline (95523 00009).
Implementation of both the e-filing system and online services will be closely monitored at the district level. Officials were advised to utilize digital tools—such as the agent space and search bar features—for file management, memo issuance, and other administrative tasks. Additionally, all officers and staff are required to complete biometric attendance without fail.
