Visakhapatnam DRC to Resolve Drinking Water and Street Light Issues
Social Welfare Minister and District In-charge Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy said the issues of drinking water and street lighting, discussed in the recent District Revenue Committee (DRC) meeting, will be addressed soon.
Speaking to the media at the District Collector’s office on Saturday, he said the DRC reviewed and resolved issues raised in the previous meeting. “Drinking water and street lighting were key topics, and effective solutions have been planned,” he added. The meeting decided to increase the capacity of water storage tanks to prevent shortages during the summer months. Additional tankers have also been identified to store water from the Polavaram Left Canal, and implementation steps are underway.
The Minister said a resolution was passed to hold meetings with chief officers of relevant departments during assembly sessions to address TIDCO house-related issues. The shortage of printers in secretariats was also discussed; tenders have been called, and the problem is expected to be resolved soon. Additionally, a committee will be formed, including officials from central government organizations such as Railways, Port, Naval, Dockyard, and district revenue offices, to monitor district development and ensure smooth project implementation.
Mr. Veeranjaneya Swamy added that temporary staff are being hired to address the shortage of sanitation workers. He emphasized that Visakhapatnam, as an industrially growing district, will continue to develop economically while generating employment opportunities, promoting tourism, and maintaining clean and green spaces. He urged public representatives and officials to coordinate on GO No. 30 and 45 and said measures are being taken to resolve issues faced by beneficiaries of the Deepam-2 scheme.
He further noted that water from Polavaram is expected to reach Anakapalle by November and highlighted that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has prioritized the development of Visakhapatnam.
MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju said the District In-charge Minister addressed the issues raised in the previous DRC meeting, adding that regular review meetings will ensure timely resolution.
The press conference was attended by DCCB Chairman Kona Tatarau, MLAs Palla Srinivasa Rao and Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu, and District Collector Harendhira Prasad.
