Visakhapatnam Gears Up for CII Summit with City Makeover

Visakhapatnam is upgrading roads, junctions, and public spaces ahead of the CII Partnership Summit on November 14–15. The Rs 60 crore beautification program aims to welcome national and international delegates at Andhra University College of Engineering.

Workers have redeveloped key areas, including Waltair, the beach stretch, and the airport zone. The project adds new dividers, footpaths, bus bays, murals, and road improvements. Junctions at Siripuram and Park Hotel now feature plantations and landscaped traffic islands to enhance the city’s appearance.

GVMC chief engineer P. Satyanarayana Raju said the work remains on schedule. “The project covers roads, junctions, footpaths, and bus bays,” he stated.

Mayor P. Srinivasa Rao reviewed the progress and stressed quality standards. “Any lapses will attract disciplinary action. I will inspect the works personally,” he said.

District in-charge minister Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, the district collector, and public representatives visited the summit venue. He called the event a milestone for the state and confirmed all arrangements are in place.

The state government formed a special beautification committee, led by Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar. Representatives from GVMC, VMRDA, APEPDCL, and other departments oversee the preparations. The venue now offers parking, helicopter landings, VIP access, and streamlined entry and exit routes.
