Visakhapatnam Health Department launches door-to-door drive on GST 2.0 reforms
The Health Department has launched the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan (SNSPA), a district-wide initiative aimed at improving health outcomes for women and families. The campaign focuses on preventive care, awareness, and direct community engagement.
District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr. P. Jagadishwar Rao said the program would include door-to-door visits by health workers, medical camps, and counselling sessions for women and children. “Our goal is to empower women with knowledge about health, nutrition, and family welfare while ensuring access to essential healthcare services,” he said.
As part of SNSPA, doctors, ANMs, ASHA workers, and staff from primary and urban health centres will visit households over the next month. They will provide information on maternal and child health, nutrition, vaccination, and government health schemes. The teams will also document visits through photographs to track outreach and impact.
Medical camps under the campaign will serve as additional platforms to reach a wider audience, especially women from marginalized communities. Officials emphasized that the initiative is aligned with broader public health goals and aims to reduce health disparities.
“The campaign is designed to make healthcare accessible, informative, and participatory,” Dr. Jagadishwar Rao added. “By engaging directly with communities, we hope to build stronger, healthier families.”
SNSPA also aims to complement other government initiatives, including the GST 2.0 awareness drive, by educating families on financial and healthcare benefits simultaneously.
