Visakhapatnam opens first ‘Thrupthi Canteen’ at RK Beach

Visakhapatnam launched its first-ever ‘Thrupthi Canteen’ near RK Beach on Thursday. Mayor Peela Srinivas Rao inaugurated the facility along with MLAs Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu and Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav, and GVMC UCD Project Director P.M. Satyaveni.

The initiative, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, aims to empower DWCRA women. Fully managed by self-help group members, the canteen will serve nutritious, hygienic meals at affordable prices. It is the first of five planned across the city.

Mayor Srinivas Rao said the canteen will help women achieve financial stability while providing quality food to the public. MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu highlighted the state’s welfare programs for self-help group members, while MLA Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav emphasized improving women’s living standards, health security, and business opportunities.

GVMC UCD Project Director P.M. Satyaveni urged the public to support the initiative. Officials, resource persons, and self-help group members attended the launch.
