Visakhapatnam police detect 75 property offence cases in August

The Visakhapatnam police have detected 75 out of 105 reported cases and recovered property worth over Rs 1.21 crore for August.

City police commissioner Sankhabrata Bagchi announced the details during a press conference held on Wednesday. He said that 103 offenders have been arrested across various categories of property crimes.

The recovery involved 380 missing mobile phones valued at Rs 57 lakh, while case property worth Rs 64.24 lakh was also retrieved. Among the recovered items were 557.395 grams of gold, Rs 5.70 lakh in cash, and 18 motorcycles.

The detected cases included three robberies, one daytime housebreaking, four nighttime housebreakings, four snatching incidents, 18 motorcycle thefts, four wire thefts, one cycle theft, and 40 cases of ordinary theft.

Apart from conventional items like mobile phones and gold jewelry, police recovered livestock, including four cows, two buffalos, and two sheep. Industrial materials such as 340 aluminum sheets, copper wire from 10 transformers, and six copper staves were also retrieved.

Other recovered items included one television, 15 car tires, and two auto tires.

The police department’s mobile phone recovery system through the CHATBOT and CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal has recovered 380 mobile phones worth Rs 57 lakh.

Since the program’s inception, a total of 7,164 mobile phones valued at Rs 10.74 crore have been recovered. Citizens can lodge complaints regarding stolen or lost mobiles through CHATBOT number 9490617916 or the CEIR Portal.
