Visakhapatnam set to emerge as India’s next IT, GCC and AI hub
C M Saikanth Varma, CEO of the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, said the state is working to position Visakhapatnam as India’s next major center for Information Technology, Global Capability Centers, and Artificial Intelligence.
Speaking at an Investment Promotion Roadshow in Hyderabad, he outlined a focused strategy built on industrial clusters, strong social infrastructure, and improving connectivity.
“Our vision is to develop Visakhapatnam into a future-ready technology destination,” Saikanth Varma said. “We are creating growth clusters supported by quality urban infrastructure, skilled talent, and a business-friendly ecosystem.”
He said the government is aligning infrastructure development with sector-specific growth, especially in technology and knowledge-driven industries. According to him, Visakhapatnam’s port, road, and air connectivity, along with its livability, make it a natural choice for global firms looking to expand operations in India.
“Visakhapatnam is emerging as India’s gateway to the East,” he said. “With its strategic location, strong social infrastructure, and evolving innovation ecosystem, the city offers a strong platform for IT companies, GCCs, and AI-driven enterprises.”
He added that the state is focused on building an enabling environment that supports both large global investors and fast-growing technology firms, strengthening Visakhapatnam’s position as a key destination in India’s digital growth story.
