Visakhapatnam to host Pro Kabaddi League Season 12
The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) will return to Visakhapatnam later this month, with the home team Telugu Titans unveiling its new squad for Season 12 on Tuesday. The tournament, scheduled from August 29 to October 23, will see 12 franchises compete across 18 league matches each, followed by playoffs for the top six.
Telugu Titans CEO Dr. Trinadh Reddy said the franchise remains committed to strengthening its connect with spectators while expanding the commercial reach of the sport. “We are executing our strategy to deepen engagement and take kabaddi to the next level,” he said.
Head coach Krishna Kumar Hooda struck a confident note, calling this the strongest side the franchise has fielded so far. “We are working on new strategies to sustain momentum and offer fans a more engaging experience,” he said.
Captain Vijay Malik underlined the importance of trust and unity within the squad. “Players must feel secure to give their best. We have a good balance of experience in this group, and the pressure is equal for everyone,” he said.
The Titans’ opening fixture is against Tamil Thalaivas on August 29, followed by a clash with UP Yoddhas on August 30. The team will later face Jaipur Pink Panthers (September 4), Bengal Warriors (September 7) and U Mumba (September 10).
All of Visakhapatnam’s matches are set to be staged at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium from 8 p.m. The league will be broadcast on Star Sports Network and streamed live on Jio Hotstar.
The Pro Kabaddi League, launched in 2014, has played a pivotal role in reviving kabaddi as a mainstream sporting spectacle in India. Its franchise-based model, city affiliations and televised format have helped widen the sport’s reach, drawing large crowds across venues. Visakhapatnam, often referred to as the “City of Destiny,” has hosted PKL fixtures in the past, with the Telugu Titans enjoying strong local support. Season 12 is expected to add to the city’s growing reputation as a sporting hub.
