Vizag Customs short film ‘Right Turn’ wins jury honour
The Visakhapatnam Customs House has won the Honourable Jury Mention Award for its short film “Right Turn” at the 10th Indian World Film Festival held in Hyderabad on March 7, officials said on Monday.
Notably, the film outperformed 417 entries from across the globe. It reflects the World Customs Organisation’s 2025 theme. The film highlights how Customs ensures efficiency, security, and national prosperity, Principal Chief Commissioner Sanjay Rathi said.
Moreover, the film presents the department’s role in a simple and engaging way. It explains trade facilitation, enforcement, and protection of national interests. As a result, viewers can better understand the department’s work.
To widen its reach, the department screened the film at Varun Inox in Visakhapatnam. Media representatives and trade stakeholders attended the event. They also interacted with officials after the screening.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Rathi said the film serves as an educational tool. It helps bridge the gap between the department and the public. At the same time, it promotes awareness about compliance and procedures.
Meanwhile, Principal Commissioner N. Sridhar said the department oversees operations at Visakhapatnam and Gangavaram ports and airports. It continues to balance trade facilitation with the protection of India’s economic interests.
Overall, the recognition for “Right Turn” reflects the department’s focus on transparency. It also highlights its commitment to stakeholder engagement through creative outreach initiatives.
