Vizag Gears Up for Two-Day Literary Fest Celebrating Young Minds and Stories

Visakhapatnam will become a hub of creativity and imagination as The Lit Lantern Culture & Literature Welfare Society hosts a two-day Literary Fest on November 8 and 9, 2025, at Hawa Mahal.

This year’s highlight is the Vizag Junior Literary Fest—the first event of its kind in Andhra Pradesh—designed for children aged 4 to 16 years. Organizers plan nearly 100 sessions that include storytelling, theatre, puppetry, drawing, cartooning, poetry, and more.

Renowned authors, illustrators, and storytellers from India and abroad will lead sessions. Notable participants include Shobha Tharoor Srinivasan, Vaishali Shroff, Vikram Sridhar, Abhishek Talwar, Nupur Aggarwal, Ajit Narayan, and Jyoti Pande.

The workshops will cater to three age groups and will include parenting sessions, career talks, and interactive programs for educators. Most sessions target children, but several will welcome families. Due to limited seats, some workshops will require prior registration.

The Helen O’Grady Theatre Group from Mumbai will add theatrical flair. They will perform stage adaptations of Shakespeare’s classics and The Sound of Music, bringing beloved characters to life for young audiences.

Children will have the opportunity to meet authors, participate in creative workshops, and collect autographs from their favorite writers. This event promises a memorable weekend for book lovers and families alike.

Since its beginning, The Lit Lantern Society has organized five major cultural events: three literary festivals (2018, 2019, and 2024) and two theatre festivals (2023). Each event has drawn over 3,000 participants, including students, parents, and teachers.

“Our aim is to make literature come alive for children,” said a society representative. “We want them to experience the joy of reading, imagination, and expression through stories, theatre, and art in a fun, engaging way.” Organizers encourage not only young readers but also families who wish to rediscover the magic of books, creativity, and shared storytelling.
