Vizag Hotels Meet Over LPG Supply Concerns
The Hotel & Restaurant Association of Andhra Pradesh (HRAAP), in association with the Andhra Pradesh Star Hotels Association (ASHA), held a review meeting on Saturday with hotel owners, promoters, and general managers to assess the situation arising from ongoing concerns over commercial LPG supply and its potential impact on the hospitality sector.
The meeting brought together representatives from several star hotels in Visakhapatnam to review the current supply situation and discuss precautionary measures to ensure uninterrupted operations in the coming weeks.
HRAAP president M. V. Pavan Kartheek said that, at present, there was no major disruption in the supply of commercial LPG to star hotels in the city and that hotel operations were continuing as usual. However, he said the industry was closely monitoring the situation and preparing contingency measures to avoid operational difficulties if supply uncertainties persisted.
He noted that while the hospitality sector had not faced immediate challenges, prolonged uncertainty in fuel availability could potentially affect kitchen operations and service efficiency in hotels and restaurants. Members therefore emphasised the need for responsible and efficient fuel management practices.
During the meeting, participants discussed a range of measures aimed at optimising LPG consumption. These included rationalising menus, temporarily limiting dishes that require longer cooking times, adopting electrical cooking alternatives wherever feasible, and improving overall kitchen management practices to enhance fuel efficiency.
The associations also appreciated the efforts of government authorities in maintaining stability in the supply system so far and expressed confidence that the situation would continue to be closely monitored to prevent service disruptions.
ASHA vice-president G. Venkata Krishna, B. V. Nataraj, and several industry representatives attended the meeting. The participants resolved to maintain close coordination among member establishments and share best practices to ensure the smooth functioning of hotel operations across the city.
