Vizag–Tirupati IndiGo flight delayed 2 hours over technical snag

Air travel between Visakhapatnam and Tirupati faced disruption on Wednesday afternoon after an IndiGo flight was delayed by nearly two hours due to a technical snag at Visakhapatnam International Airport, causing inconvenience to passengers.

Flight 6E 7063, operated by a four-year-old ATR 72 aircraft with a seating capacity of 74, was scheduled to depart at 1.50 pm. However, the aircraft was held back on the tarmac after a glitch was detected during routine pre-flight checks. As a precautionary measure, the airline’s engineering teams conducted detailed safety inspections to assess and rectify the issue.

Sources said the delay led to anxious moments among passengers, though airline staff continued to provide periodic updates at the terminal.

After the aircraft received the necessary technical clearance, it finally took off at 3.50 pm, nearly two hours behind schedule, as per flight-tracking data.

The flight landed at Tirupati International Airport at 5.19 pm, arriving 1 hour and 49 minutes later than its scheduled time.

An IndiGo spokesperson expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and reiterated that the decision to ground the aircraft was taken as a “safety-first” measure to ensure full compliance with stringent aviation safety standards.
