Vizag to Host India’s Next-Gen Genomics Hub

Vizag is set to host a new Center of Excellence (CoE) for Genomics and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), following a collaboration between Bio Valley, 4baseCare, and Define Bio Pvt. Ltd. (Biobank). The CoE, named BioSphere, aims to strengthen India’s genomic capabilities and advance precision medicine.

The facility will focus on early and accurate diagnostics, personalized treatments, and informed therapeutic decisions. By generating large-scale datasets reflecting India’s genetic diversity and integrating global genomic data, BioSphere will support the development of diagnostics, risk prediction models, and therapies tailored to Indian populations.

A key feature of the initiative is a dedicated incubation centre to nurture genomics-based start-ups, offering sequencing services, data access, and mentorship. The CoE will also foster collaborations among clinicians, academic institutions, industry partners, and data-driven start-ups, while training the next generation of scientists and entrepreneurs in genomics research.

“This partnership combines advanced genomics expertise, incubation support, and translational research to accelerate precision medicine solutions from Andhra Pradesh,” said Hitesh Goswami, CEO & Co-founder of 4baseCare. Dr. K. Suseela Branham, CEO of Bio Valley, described the initiative as “a significant milestone in India’s genomics-driven healthcare, promoting data-driven precision medicine and personalized treatments.”
