Waltair Division pushes PoSH awareness, stresses safe workplace
The Waltair Division is taking strong steps to ensure a safe and respectful workplace for all employees, said Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Lalit Bohra on Tuesday.
Speaking at a Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) awareness programme, held in partnership with the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), Mr. Bohra said such initiatives help employees, especially women, feel confident and work without fear. He added that Indian Railways is opening more roles for women in technical, operational, and office work.
The division has launched a PoSH awareness campaign across its offices. The programme aims to educate employees about their rights and responsibilities under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013. “Awareness is the first step to prevention,” said Mr. Bohra.
Jyotsna Bohra, president of the ECoR Women’s Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO), said training, family support, and wellness programmes help women employees gain confidence and balance work with home life.
The workshop covered key points of the PoSH Act, how to report complaints, and the consequences of harassment. Organisers said the goal is to create a workplace culture where women can safely report issues without fear.
FLO members, including Vijayawada chapter founder Ambreen Anjum and PoSH mentor-trainer Dr. Y. Hema, shared real-life examples and practical tips for handling workplace challenges. They emphasised that dignity and respect are essential for productivity. FLO also highlighted its training and small business programmes to help women play a stronger role in the workforce.
Officials said the campaign is part of Waltair Division’s ongoing efforts to combine awareness, legal guidance, and support systems. The aim is to make women employees feel safe and confident that their complaints will be addressed fairly.
