Waltair Division Trains OBHS Staff on Passenger Service

Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operations) of the Waltair Division, K. Rama Rao, conducted a counselling session for On-Board Housekeeping Service (OBHS) staff, supervisors, and Health Inspectors at Visakhapatnam Railway Station here on Friday. The session focused on staff conduct, adherence to cleanliness protocols, and strategies to elevate service standards during train journeys.

Organized under Railway Board guidelines, the initiative aims to strengthen passenger confidence by ensuring consistent hygiene across coaches, pantry cars, and station facilities. During the session, Rama Rao emphasized the importance of courteous interactions with passengers and attentive service, noting that these elements play a key role in shaping a positive travel experience.

The programme also provided a platform for staff to discuss operational challenges, share suggestions, and explore practical solutions for improving service delivery. Railway officials highlighted that regular counselling sessions help build a motivated workforce capable of maintaining high standards of cleanliness, efficiency, and timely assistance.

“With rising passenger traffic, consistent service and hygiene are essential to earning trust and ensuring passenger comfort,” Rama Rao said. He added that these sessions are part of the Waltair Division’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence and enhancing overall passenger satisfaction.

The initiative reflects a broader effort by the division to promote accountability, responsiveness, and teamwork among on-board and station staff, reinforcing the importance of maintaining both service quality and safety standards across the railway network.
