Waltair Division Wins 9 Railway Efficiency Shields, 18 Staff Awarded

Waltair Division of East Coast Railway has secured nine Best Efficiency Shields under the “Visisth Rail Seva Puraskar–2025,” which will be presented during the 70th Railway Week Award Function to be held in Bhubaneswar on February 4, 2026.

The Division’s achievement spans key operational and service categories, underlining its performance in maintenance, administration, and passenger services. In addition, 18 employees from various departments of the Division have been chosen for the Visisth Rail Seva Puraskar–2025 in recognition of their dedication and professional excellence.

Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair, Lalit Bohra, said the recognition reflected collective effort. “These awards belong to every member of the Waltair Division who works with commitment and discipline every day. The shields recognise our focus on safety, efficiency, and service quality,” he said.

He added that teamwork across departments played a key role. “Consistent coordination between operating, engineering, and service wings has helped us maintain high standards. I congratulate all the departments and employees who contributed to this success,” Mr. Bohra said.

The shields awarded exclusively to Waltair Division include Best Maintained Running Room (Rayagada/Waltair), Civil Engineering, Personnel, Sales Management, Security, Stores Depot of Electric Loco Shed, and Track Machine.

The Division also shared shields with other divisions in the Rail Madad, Signal, and Telecom categories. “The honour motivates us to aim higher and continue improving passenger services and operational reliability,” Mr. Bohra added.

The Overall Efficiency Shield will be announced at the venue during the ceremony.
