World Health Innovation Forum Opens at AMTZ

The World Health Innovation Forum 2025 began at the Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone (AMTZ) on Friday, bringing together global experts, industry leaders and policymakers for three days of discussions on emerging trends in health technology. This year’s edition is built around the themes Ignite, Transform and Sustain.

On the opening day, AMTZ launched the Global MedTech Expo 2025, which showcases new medical devices, MedTech startups and a range of technology-driven healthcare solutions.

More than 2,000 delegates attended the inaugural session. Among the speakers were Louise Agersnap, head of the WHO Innovation Hub in Geneva; Dr Ravi Ramamurthy of Northeastern University; Dr Nico Schittekae of the Embassy of the Netherlands; Dr Issa of Hopital Albert Royer, Senegal; and Dr Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and CEO of AMTZ.

Dr Sharma said AMTZ had evolved from a remote campus to a major hub for medical manufacturing and innovation. He outlined the agenda for the three-day forum and said all commitments made during last year’s edition, including equipping 100 hospitals with Indian-made devices, had been delivered.

Sessions on Day 1 covered funding and scaling health technologies, led by the International Finance Corporation, as well as workshops by WHO collaborating centres and ISPOR.

The forum is expected to host more than 6,000 participants from over 70 countries. AMTZ and the Kalam Institute of Health Technology, a WHO Collaborating Centre, said the platform aims to drive collaboration across governments, academia, industry and technology partners to strengthen health systems.

Organisers said the next two days will continue to focus on innovations and partnerships aimed at improving the accessibility, quality and affordability of healthcare.
