Youth Gang Nabbed for Temple Hundi Thefts in Anakapalli

The Chodavaram police arrested three youths, including one adult and two juveniles, involved in multiple hundi thefts at temples across Chodavaram, Buchiyyapeta, V. Madugula, Chidikada, and Devarapalli mandals. Police recovered stolen property worth Rs.66,418, including 10.32 grams of gold, 26 tolas of silver, and Rs.44,218 in cash.

The accused, led by 20-year-old Rasuri Pothuraj, targeted temples at night. They hid the stolen loot in Vijayaramarajupet after spending part of it on personal expenses. The police arrested them after intercepting their bike at Gouripatnam while they were traveling from Vaddadi to Chodavaram.

A total of 26 cases have been registered at various police stations. The arrests were made under the supervision of District SP Sri Tuhin Sinha, IPS, with the support of Anakapalli Sub-Division DSP Smt. M. Sravani and Chodavaram Inspector Sri P. Appalaraju.

SP Tuhin Sinha urged the public to install CCTV cameras and use the Locked House Monitoring System (LHMS) for homes left unattended. He also advised against storing valuables in temples and emphasized that strict action would be taken against criminal activities.
