₹200-cr. PM-SETU project for Vizag ITI cluster
The Visakhapatnam ITI Cluster has been sanctioned ₹200.21 crore under the Prime Minister’s Skill Education and Training Upgradation (PM-SETU) programme for modernisation of government Industrial Training Institutes and expansion of industry-oriented skill development.
Welcoming the approval, Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat said Andhra Pradesh was the first State to implement the scheme through an industry-led partnership model. The project, led by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, aims to upgrade ITIs through a hub-and-spoke framework aligned with industry requirements.
More than 25,000 youth are expected to receive advanced skill training over the next five years. The programme targets 75% placements and is expected to strengthen employment opportunities and improve industry readiness among trainees.
Mr. Sribharat said the project would help position Visakhapatnam as a major skill development hub and contribute to regional economic growth.
