UTSAB Cultural Association Organises Prabhat Pheri for Durga Pujo Celebrations
The UTSAB Cultural Association organized a traditional Prabhat Pheri on Sunday, marking a spiritual start to the ongoing Durga Pujo celebrations and showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage.
The early morning procession began at AMCOSSA Hall, proceeded to the Shri Krishna Temple, and returned, drawing devotees, families, and community members.
Rooted in centuries-old tradition, Prabhat Pheri is held at dawn to invoke the blessings of Goddess Durga. Although it originated in Bengal, the practice has spread across India and is embraced as a way to mark the auspicious beginning of Durga Pujo. The procession featured devotional hymns and chants, creating a strong sense of unity and devotion among participants.
“Prabhat Pheri is not only a spiritual ritual but also a reminder of our cultural roots,” said committee member Ashish Kr Saha. “Participating together strengthens community bonds and sets a positive tone for the upcoming days of celebration.”
Another participant added, “Walking in the early morning, chanting hymns, and offering prayers creates a sense of peace and unity. It’s an experience that connects us to tradition while celebrating the joy of the festival.”
The procession concluded at AMCOSSA Hall, reaffirming the importance of tradition in modern celebrations.
