Dr G. Sambasiva Rao elected Chairman of ACFI Andhra Pradesh Chapter

Dr. Gadagottu Sambasiva Rao, Managing Director of Sravan Shipping Services Pvt Ltd has been elected Chairman of the Air Cargo Forum India (ACFI) – Andhra Pradesh Chapter.

Andhra Pradesh has four international airports: Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, and Tirupati. These airports offer great potential for expanding air cargo operations.

Dr. Rao, former president of AP Chambers, emphasized the importance of improving air cargo connectivity. “Stronger air cargo links in Andhra Pradesh will create new opportunities. This includes industries, MSMEs, women entrepreneurs, and startups,” he said. He highlighted the export of perishable goods, pharmaceuticals, marine products, flowers, and industrial spares. Imports of gold, silver, and diamonds could also drive economic activity. These efforts will create jobs, especially for youth and women in logistics.

At present, most exports, especially perishables and pharmaceuticals, are routed through airports in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. This is due to limited cargo infrastructure at the state’s airports. AP Chambers has been pushing for the development of cargo facilities at Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, and Tirupati to meet growing demand.

Dr. Rao stated, “ACFI will collaborate with AP Chambers, the state and central governments, and other key agencies to build a strong air cargo ecosystem. We aim to improve ease of doing business and attract investments to the sector.”

AP Chambers President Potluri Bhaskara Rao also welcomed Dr. Rao’s election. “His leadership will strengthen the partnership between AP Chambers and ACFI. Together, we can fast-track the development of international cargo facilities in the state, benefiting exporters, entrepreneurs, and local communities.”
