YSRCP accuses CM of misusing institutions to close cases

The YSR Congress Party has accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of misusing institutional powers to ensure that all cases against him were closed within a month.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, YSRCP general secretary and former additional advocate general Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy said the party would pursue the issue and take it to the notice of the Supreme Court.

He alleged that Mr. Naidu had violated bail conditions by influencing institutions to close cases pending against him. “We will approach the apex court to expose these actions,” Mr. Sudhakar Reddy said.

The YSRCP leader claimed that police officials who had earlier registered cases against Mr. Naidu were now clearing him, citing a “mistake of fact,” which, he alleged, pointed to undue influence over institutions.

Referring to the skill development case, Mr. Sudhakar Reddy said Mr. Naidu had spent 53 days in jail and that police had filed a chargesheet after examining 150 witnesses and recording statements from 18 officials in the alleged ₹371 crore scam. He said central agencies were also involved and that some of the accused had served jail terms. Despite a quash petition pending before the Supreme Court, the case had been closed, he alleged.

Mr. Sudhakar Reddy further claimed that Mr. Naidu was involved in cases related to the Inner Ring Road, assigned lands, and the liquor scam, involving crores of rupees. “We will knock on the doors of the Supreme Court and pursue the matter to its logical conclusion,” he said.
