Manish Raj Gupta Takes Additional Charge as CMD of RINL

Manish Raj Gupta, Director (Technical, Projects & Raw Materials) at the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has taken additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited.

A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Management, Gupta joined SAIL in 1991 as a Management Trainee (Technical) at the Durgapur Steel Plant. He has since held several key technical and leadership roles across SAIL units.

Gupta spent nearly three decades at the Durgapur Steel Plant, contributing to plant operations, project execution, and equipment reliability. He played an important role in improving the efficiency of the Steel Melting Shop, with a focus on safety, quality, and operational performance.

In 2019, he moved to the Bokaro Steel Plant as Chief General Manager in charge of the Steel Melting Shops. Under his leadership, the shops underwent technological upgrades, process improvements, and modernization, leading to better steelmaking efficiency.

He later served as Executive Director (Works) at the IISCO Steel Plant, where he led initiatives in sustainability, cost optimisation, and digitalisation. These efforts helped improve operational performance and align the plant with SAIL’s long-term strategic goals.

Gupta will continue to hold his current responsibilities at SAIL while discharging additional duties as CMD of RINL.
