Telangana Governor visits naval platforms in Visakhapatnam

The Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma, visited the indigenously built advanced stealth frigate INS Himgiri of the Eastern Fleet and a Kalvari-class submarine at Visakhapatnam on January 3.

Senior officers briefed the Governor on the operational capabilities of the frontline platforms, including their multi-mission roles, stealth features, and integrated combat systems used for maritime surveillance and combat operations. He was also apprised of the extensive use of indigenous technologies in these platforms, reflecting the Indian Navy’s growing emphasis on domestic design and production.

Officials said the visit underscored closer engagement between State leadership and the maritime defence establishment, while highlighting progress in indigenous naval engineering.

Mr. Varma lauded the Eastern Naval Command and the Eastern Fleet for their role in maintaining persistent maritime surveillance and safeguarding India’s strategic interests in the Indo-Pacific region. He appreciated the professionalism and operational readiness of naval personnel.
