GVMC toll-free helpline for drinking water complaints

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) on Monday said it remains committed to supplying safe drinking water across the city. It asked residents to report water supply issues through its toll-free helpline without delay.

In a press release, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said the Drinking Water Department is ensuring a daily supply of safe water. He added that officials are monitoring the network round the clock and carrying out regular maintenance. He said the GVMC will address drinking water complaints on priority to reduce inconvenience to residents.

To strengthen grievance redressal and speed up response time, GVMC has provided a dedicated toll-free number: 1800 4250 0009. Residents can call and register complaints about pipeline leakages, contaminated water, pipelines leaking into drains, low pressure, and supply interruptions. Mr. Garg said the department will coordinate with field teams to locate faults and restore supply at the earliest.

He urged residents to use the helpline instead of informal channels. He said helpline-based complaints help the GVMC track issues properly and take timely corrective action. He also asked citizens to inform officials immediately if they notice leakages or contamination in their locality.

GVMC said its maintenance programme is focused on preventing wastage, maintaining water quality standards, and ensuring uninterrupted supply, especially in densely populated areas.
