GVMC rolls out toll-free helpline for drinking water complaints

To make grievance redressal easier and ensure uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has launched a dedicated toll-free helpline for residents within its limits.

So far, citizens frequently faced confusion over whom to contact when water supply was disrupted due to pipeline breaks, technical faults or sudden interruptions. With the new facility, residents can now report drinking water-related issues directly by dialling the toll-free number 1800-4250-0009.

GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said the helpline has been introduced to strengthen communication between the civic body and the public and to ensure complaints are attended to promptly. He stated that citizens can not only register complaints but also obtain details on restoration timelines in their respective localities.

The Commissioner added that the water supply wing is working round-the-clock to maintain consistent delivery of potable water through regular maintenance, monitoring and timely repairs. He urged the public to report issues immediately so that rapid corrective measures can be taken.

The helpline will cover complaints such as drinking water pipeline leakages, contaminated water supply, pipelines leaking through drains, supply interruptions and other related issues. GVMC officials said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to upgrade and maintain the city’s water supply infrastructure.

With the launch, the civic body aims to improve service delivery, ensure transparency and offer residents an accessible platform for quicker resolution of drinking water problems.
