Stakeholder Push for VK-PCPIR Vision 2051

Tej Bharat, Commissioner of the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) and Vice-Chairman of the Visakhapatnam–Kakinada Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Investment Region (VK-PCPIR), stressed the importance of active stakeholder participation in shaping the VK-PCPIR 2051 Vision Plan and Master Plan 2041.

Speaking at a workshop here on Saturday, he invited practical and implementable suggestions. He also directed officials to complete consultations within a fixed timeframe. Accordingly, he set August as the deadline for submitting the final report. In addition, he sought detailed inputs on industrial expansion, road networks, and port connectivity.

The VK-PCPIR region spans 640 square kilometres. It covers 97 villages across 10 mandals in the Anakapalli, Kakinada, and Visakhapatnam districts.

The proposed Master Plan will address key areas. These include residential zoning, water resource management, government lands, and industrial growth. It will also focus on infrastructure upgrades, environmental safeguards, housing, and social infrastructure. LEA Associates South Asia Pvt. Ltd. is preparing the plan.

Meanwhile, MLA Konathala Ramakrishna referred to the Visakhapatnam Economic Region report released by NITI Aayog in December 2025. He noted that the region spans nine districts, from Srikakulam to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema. Furthermore, he said the region continues to record steady economic growth. He also highlighted major private investments and MoUs in the Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, and Kakinada districts.

Mr. Ramakrishna said upcoming projects at Nakkapalli are expected to generate significant employment. These include the Bulk Drug Park, AMNS, and Toy Park. Additionally, he said the proposed Kakinada Gateway Port and Nakkapalli Anchor Port would strengthen maritime capacity. As a result, exports and global trade connectivity are likely to improve.

Joint Collector Shaurya Man Patel, VK-PCPIR Joint Director V. Shilpa, ZP CEO Lakshman, District Chief Planning Officer Ramarao, along with stakeholders and officials, attended the workshop.
