Botcha breaks down, slams Atchannaidu over remarks on YSR
YSR Congress Party leader and MLC Botcha Satyanarayana turned emotional and broke down while strongly refuting allegations made by Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu regarding the death of former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and the political developments that followed in 2009.
Addressing the media at his camp office on Thursday, Mr. Satyanarayana said the remarks were not only baseless but also deeply hurtful to those who had closely worked with YSR. Struggling to hold back tears at one point, he said such statements were an affront to the legacy of a leader who dedicated his life to public welfare.
He accused Mr. Atchannaidu of stooping to a new low in politics by making “irresponsible and insensitive” comments to gain prominence. “There should be a line in public discourse, especially when it concerns a departed leader. Making reckless allegations for political mileage reflects poorly on the system,” he said.
Mr. Satyanarayana stressed that sensitive matters should not be dragged into political debates without evidence. “Mutual respect is fundamental in public life. However, Mr. Atchannaidu has crossed all limits, not only for political gain but also to divert public attention from pressing issues like the ‘MAVIGUN’ proposal,” he alleged.
Recalling his long association with YSR, he said the late leader’s contributions to the state, particularly towards farmers and the underprivileged, remain unmatched. He pointed out that it had been exactly 23 years since YSR completed his historic padayatra, which laid the foundation for significant political change in the state.
“It is unfortunate that on a day when people across Andhra Pradesh are remembering YSR garu and his legacy, such unwarranted controversies are being created,” he said, urging political leaders to maintain decorum and focus on governance rather than personal attacks.
