JSP Welcomes Women’s Quota Bill, Calls It Historic Step

Jana Sena Party (JSP) president and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan on Thursday welcomed the introduction of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Amendment Bill, 2026, in the Lok Sabha, describing it as a landmark move by the BJP-led NDA government to ensure 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies.

In a post on X, he said the journey of women’s empowerment in India is deeply rooted in the Constitution, shaped by its founding women members, including Dakshayani Velayudhan, Hansa Mehta, Durgabai Deshmukh, Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, and Rajkumari Amrit Kaur. Their contributions, he said, ensured dignity, equality, and justice for generations of Indian women.

He noted that women’s achievements across fields underline a simple truth that when opportunity meets talent, women lead, excel, and inspire nations. It was in this spirit, he said, that the Bill has been introduced in Parliament.

The JSP, he added, has consistently supported women’s empowerment not just in words but through action. He recalled the party’s commitment to 33 per cent reservation for women, as promised in the 2019 elections, and said the measure reflects its belief in equal opportunity and rightful representation.

Pawan Kalyan said the Bill is not about granting new rights but restoring what he described as the rightful share of women in governance.
