District Collector Calls for Collective Efforts in Swachh Andhra Initiatives

District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad on Friday underscored the importance of collective action for the success of the Swachh Andhra and Swarna Andhra initiatives. In a video conference with officials, he emphasized the need to involve local representatives, voluntary organizations, and social activists to drive the cleanliness programs effectively.

The Collector introduced the theme for the month, “Rainy Season Cleanliness,” urging all stakeholders to align their activities accordingly. He also announced the launch of the Swachh Awards, to recognize exceptional contributions in categories such as municipalities, gram panchayats, schools, hospitals, farmers’ markets, industries, and bus stands. Awards will be named “Swachh Warriors” for urban areas and “Green Ambassadors” for rural areas.

Harendhira Prasad called for immediate steps to prevent water stagnation, particularly in offices and homes, and stressed the importance of cleaning drains to curb the spread of vector-borne diseases. He also highlighted the need for sanitation in irrigation canals, sewage lines, and waterlogged areas, directing fogging activities and cleaning of public toilets.

The Collector encouraged the identification and cleaning of garbage points, waste segregation, and the establishment of recycling units. He also urged officials to share progress on the SASA platform, using relevant hashtags. Additionally, he recommended launching community handwashing campaigns and Dry Day programs in collaboration with the Health Department to promote hygiene.
