Waltair Division honours alert railway staff with Safety Awards

The Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway has recognised railway employees for their alertness and timely action in preventing potential accidents during train operations.

Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra presented Safety Awards to staff members who detected unsafe conditions such as hot axles, defective wagon components, abnormal smoke emission and open level crossing gates, besides other operational irregularities reported across the division.

Officials said the quick reporting by the employees enabled immediate corrective action, helping avert mishaps and ensuring smooth and safe train operations.

Speaking on the occasion, the DRM said safety continues to be the top priority of the Indian Railways. He appreciated the staff for their vigilance, presence of mind and proactive response in identifying faults at the right time. He added that such recognition would further encourage employees to maintain high safety standards in railway operations.

The awards were given to personnel from various categories, including train managers, loco pilots, assistant loco pilots, station masters, carriage and wagon staff, technicians and gatemen. Their alertness in detecting defects in rolling stock, trackside equipment and overhead electrical systems was highlighted as a key contribution to operational safety.

Senior officers and supervisors of the Waltair Division were present at the award presentation ceremony.
