A new Coastal Security Police building was inaugurated in the city on Tuesday by Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta, as part of efforts to strengthen maritime security, surveillance and response systems along the State’s coastline.

The new facility has been designed as a central hub for coastal monitoring, intelligence gathering and rapid response operations.

Following the event, the DGP reviewed key operational aspects of coastal policing, including beach patrolling, preventive security measures, life-saving arrangements and community outreach programmes. He also examined the functioning of village vigilance committees and the special intelligence unit, along with available equipment, vehicles and ongoing training initiatives.

Officials also briefed him on recent initiatives such as the induction of three APSP platoons, awareness programmes on olive ridley turtle conservation, drug prevention campaigns, island night halts, flag-hoisting activities on islands and naval NCC participation.

The DGP appreciated the efforts of the coastal security wing and assured continued support to strengthen infrastructure, manpower and operational readiness along the coastline.
