VMRDA to Develop Industrial Corridors, Boost Vizag Growth
The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) will prepare comprehensive land-use plans and develop industrial and logistics corridors while strengthening urban infrastructure to support the region’s long-term growth, Commissioner N. Tej Bharat said on Monday.
Addressing the Visakhapatnam Zonal Council meeting organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), he said priority is being given to sustainable transport systems and port-led development initiatives.
He said the Andhra Pradesh government is focusing on expanding key sectors, including manufacturing, electronics, semiconductors, food processing, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, green hydrogen and marine-based industries.
According to him, industrial corridors, multimodal logistics parks, industrial clusters and digital infrastructure are emerging as key drivers of the state’s economic growth.
Tej Bharat also said the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) 2019 regulations introduced by the Centre are creating new opportunities for Andhra Pradesh by balancing coastal development with environmental protection. He added that the state is working to build a comprehensive industrial ecosystem aimed at attracting investments, generating employment, boosting exports and ensuring sustainable growth.
He urged industry representatives to actively participate in the state’s development process as partners. Representatives of CII, along with industrialists and entrepreneurs from various sectors, attended the meeting.
